28 September 2019
Back on 10 September, Apple had their big annual iPhone event. A couple random thoughts:
- If only they had waited 24 hours, they could've held the iPhone 11 event on 11 September.
- All those rumors of Nigel Tufnel providing an "introductory keynote address" were proven painfully false. So disappointing!
Oh well. Nonetheless, it's a big week for the number "11" in the PRM.
My iPhone 11 Pro Max arrived on Thursday and, on Friday, I received a pair of Allbirds in size 11. It's the first time I've ever ordered a pair of shoes in 11; I typically go with size 10. But these fit perfectly. Maybe all those workouts are my making my feet bigger.
The following photos are hardly what Tim Cook had in mind when Apple showed off the power of the new camera. Even so, it's kinda funny to take some photos of size 11 shoes with an iPhone 11 Pro Max. And there's more to tell about those shoes. The packaging is entertaining in its own right.
Allbirds are all about sustainable sourcing. The shoes are made from trees and wool. The shoe box also serves as the shipping box; no box-within-a-box nonsense here.
There's also a whole bunch of character wrapped up in the branding and packaging.
Instead of the usual lightweight, gift-stuffing paper other brands shove into shoes, this is the first time I've encountered shoe-fitted form holders that are cute (they look like bare feet) and inclusive of on-brand messaging.
A commemorative photo of the old iPhone 7 Plus as gets ready for trade-in cash. It was great three-year run. Now it's time to turn it up to 11!
