Maattsterdam Random Notes

One of the little sidenotes for this journey was the purchase of my official guide. A nice little book chronicling some of the greatest of the great in the museum's collection, I purchased my copy from a nice old lady who counted out my change in guilders... even though we're dealing with euros now. Oh well, some habits are hard to break, I guess. She gets bonus points for speaking both Dutch and English.
As for the book, it's well done and reminds me of the guide I got at my favorite museum, the d'Orsay in Paris. One problem: The Girl with the Pearl Earring is featured on the cover in a cut-out square that can be pulled back to reveal the next page. But the next page is blank. Page Three, however, contains a nice little title page reading, Royal Cabinet of Paintings, Mauritshuis, Guide, all in a nice box firmly set right where the peel-back window the girl's painting currently leads to a blank spot.
Nice thought, poor execution.
Dweebies - Grasshopper, The Other Place (Biker Edition Joint), Bulldog
Shiva, WW? stuff
Then there was my neo-Delft tile, my attempt at dragging traditional blue Delft artwork into the new millennium by painting a pot-smoking smiley face. "You don't belong in IT," "Yeah, that's what I keep telling him."
Yeah. I'm unstuck. I might have even lost the plot.
